Are we really too constraint by our own mindset? Is it the environment that constraint us?

I tried this experiment with a lot of students these days. Given one-eighth the size of a foolscape paper, can you cut a hole in it such that your whole body can pass through? Nobody has done it, not even the teachers. However, yesterday I was surprised when one student done it. She was not from those good classes, instead, she's from Normal Technical. A 13 year old China girl.

Why is it that she can do it but not the rest of us? We label ourselves as more "superior" to others, but are we really more "superior"? We seem to limit ourselves to ourselves, by ourselves. Or is it the environment that we lived in, a form of protective mechanism. We tend to give up easily, finding excuses for ourselves.
