To travel a distance of 1 metre, we walk. To travel a distance of 10km, we take bus or car for 20 mins or walk for 3 hours. To travel a distance of 1000km or more, we take a plane for a few hours or take a car for a few months or walk for a few years.

To travel different distances, u need different vehicles. In the same way, to earn $10,000, u save for a few months. To earn $50,000, u save for 1 to 2 years. To earn $1 million, have to invest or trade or go into business, or save for a lifetime...

We often link work to money. And education to success in life. Is it really true? To get anything, u must trade something for it. For example to get money, u can trade time, expertise, or something that no one wants to do or dares to do. Most people trade both time and expertise for money. However, it seems that those who trade more time for money actually earn the least. A maid, who trade 95% time and 5% expertise, earns quite little. A teacher who trades 60% of his time and 40% of his expertise earns less than the HOD who trades 40% of his time and 60% of his expertise. A speaker who give lectures and speeches trade maybe 10% of his time and 90% of his expertise for money earns quite a hefty sum.

So what can u trade to get money?

Sometimes it really makes me wonder why is it that people who has the money to buy the latest technological devices has problems paying a few hundred dollars debt.

It is said that Warren Buffet, a billionaire, dun even have a handphone while those poorer than him changes handphone every few months.

The new Iphone 4 is out. And many people queue up just to spend a few weeks of their salary on it. It occurs to me that every time i wanted to buy some things, I'll rationalise it with the amount of time I have to work for that same amount of money and then think if it's worth spending that money.

Some people may say that money is made to be spent. I agree with that. But it's what we spend on. We can pay $100,000 for a car, or $100,000 for the latest medical technology that may save our lives or the lives of those dear to us.
