I've made calculations. The pilot course that I mentioned in my previous entry cost USD$59k. And convert to SGD it's about $96k. And plus expenses for a year it'll total up to maybe $120k.

I went to Citibank website to find the possibility for a loan. We can loan up to 6 times our monthly gross salary or $150k, whichever is lower. With my dad and my brother in law's pay combine, can't even reach $120k. And even if able to loan the amount, the first year, during the course, need to pay about $600+ per month. And after I graduated from the couse, need to pay about $2000+ per month, depending on the years of repayment.

I'm sure if I can go for the course, I'll surely graduate. CONFIRM! But how to fork out $120k??

I'm now thinking of the possibility of mortgaging my car to go US to learn flying. Found a flight school that trains u up till airline pilot. The cost is USD$59k. It takes about a year. And most prob if I take that up, I'll stay in US for a few more years after that as there's more airlines over there before coming back to try SIA again...

Am I too extreme? Or should I just take up the private pilot licence(PPL) in Malaysia and try SIA again, with some probability that even if I have PPL, I may not get in too? In that case, I'll "waste" the money on PPL and ended up with nothing.. Need advice!!

Sometimes I wonder if we attract things to us or we subconsciously choose to emphasize on things that are in the same state as us.

For example, when u r positive, is it that u really attracts positive things to ur life or is it that things are still the same, but somehow u choose to see more and concentrate on the positive things that come to u and neglect on those negative things that come to u.

What's your goal? Do u have a goal in life? What are u trying to achieve or r u just going to let things come to u?

I had never thought of a goal in life. And my life was spent getting a salary every month and wasting my life away. Although the salary was good compared to my peers, I felt very hollow inside.

Until the time I found myself a goal. It's like things started to energise. Ya, some said that it's unrealistic, but realism is what they perceived. And I can see that I'm getting nearer to it step by step. Even if in the end I could not get what I want, at least I'm very near to it.

I tendered my resignation with just a goal in mind and nothing else. And at that time, the goal has not yet really formalised. And it's based on this goal that I started to take the first step- To quit my current job. Although I'm going to be jobless soon, I'm happier now than before. I have calculated, in the worst case scenario, in the pursue of my goal, I may end up almost bankrupt, but at least I'm happier. Things start to take its form, step by step. And day by day, I'm getting closer and closer...

Things really feel different when u have a goal. And u'll feel more energetic and charged up everyday.

Many people equate earning lots of money to a high educational qualification. And many people prefer to work for people rather than starting their own business. For example, even if u get a PhD, u're still working for someone, and have lots of meeting and always sandwiched by those above u and those below u. Once I was telling my mum and aunt abt these and they immediately say that it's not easy to start business and a lot of people failed etc etc. At the back of their mind, they have this conception that many people failed in business, but if u ask them to name them, they do not know any. Times have changed, and there's no need any capital to start a business now. And there's no need for a shop to start business too.

Do u know of any successful businessman? If u go to a coffeeshop, all the hawkers are, in a way, businessman. Yes, their working hours are long, but they are the ones who work for themselves.
So who are u working for?

Bill Gates is a drop out from MIT. He's not even a grad and now, he has so many PhD and Masters grads working under him. He did not create Microsoft Windows either. He just markets it. Sim Wong Hoo is a diploma grad. And how many scholars work under him now?
