Last Day of 2010
Review:
Sold my Mazda 3. I think this is the best thing I ever done. Car really drains a lot of money. And in Singapore, with the efficient mass transport network, there is actually no need to own a car.
I went 2 trips this year. First trip to Vietnam in April, another trip to Taiwan in November. Both trips are the first in my life. For Vietnam trip, it's an impromptu trip that I plan and go within 24 hrs. For Taiwan trip it's the first trip to go with a 1 way ticket, although end of the day, I'm forced to buy a return ticket at the airport.
Felt like going somewhere in April and saw quite a few people's blog about Vietnam. Therefore, I immediately bought an air ticket and flew over there the next day. Within 24 hrs, I'm already there. First time in my life, although I'll prefer going to the airport without any destination in mind and decide on the spot at the airport and buy the next plane ticket and fly there. Well, it's a good start.
Went Taiwan in Nov after having planned for 3 months. Initially there is a sense of euphoria. But as time passed, the sense of euphoria died down. End of the day, I go Taiwan because I've already bought the ticket. The feeling is different from the trip to Vietnam.
Been in Taiwan for 1 month and I really enjoy it. I seen quite a lot of things, and it changed some of my thinking. I stayed with the locals, and experienced their way of life. Materially and financially speaking, generally, they may have lesser compared to us. But they have a very big heart, a very sincere heart that we can't find in Singapore.
Financially, I've reached my goal that I set up at the start of the year. Although it's not a big goal to start up with, it's a proof of the power of the mind and determination. Trading wise, there is still a lot of things that I need to improve on. Tried Forex and now still in the reds after being played out by Kinetic Securities.
Goal for 2011:
1) To have passive income to cover my normal expenditure, be it from trading or over-ride from property.
